“Believe me when I say you're gonna want to know this voice and this girl. Grace's voice is truly stunning, and you want to listen more!” - Fern Buckley, BBC Introducing Solent

Grace Angelique, an indie rock artist and the founder of Grace Notes Magazine, takes the spotlight as the first artist to be interviewed on the site (naturally!)

Grace has a diverse musical palette and appreciates genres from musical theatre and opera to country, jazz, pop, and rap. Initially creating singer-songwriter piano pieces reminiscent of Sara Bareilles and Regina Spektor, Grace had the urge to explore new instruments and genres.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Grace came across Orla Gartland's indie/alt-rock sound, and was particularly inspired by Gartland's song "Over Your Head." This discovery ignited a creative spark, prompting her to explore an edgier sound in her songwriting. Her musical journey has been shaped by attending live shows, including those of Orla Gartland, Oh Wonder, and Fizz. However, it was the Arctic Monkeys concert at the Emirates in June 2023 that solidified her desire to experiment with electric guitar. Since moving from California to the UK in 2016, Grace has infused elements of these artists into her work, reflecting her deep appreciation for the country's vibrant music culture.

Grace's power anthem, "Bird of Prey," vividly portrays the thrill and danger of succumbing to temptation on a night out. The track quickly gained recognition upon its release in January 2024, catching the attention of BBC Solent presenter Fern Buckley, who said the song made her “feel like a Bad B!”.

Beyond her music, Grace enjoys creating acapella videos on TikTok, showcasing her love for harmony building and garnering attention from fellow musicians like Sara Bareilles, Wheatus, and Miles Kane. Now, as she ventures into the world of music journalism with Grace Notes Magazine, Grace is on a mission to revolutionise music discovery and artist support. With a commitment to authenticity, she is working to create a platform for independent musicians to showcase their talent and connect them to an audience of passionate music explorers.
